Brother Teko A. Foly was born and raised in Togo, West Africa in a family of nine sisters and one brother. After high school, he traveled to several countries in Africa and Europe for higher education, before settling down in New York and then later in Maryland. He is married to Kafui and they have three children.

In the profane world, Brother Foly is an IT specialist, a management consultant and an educator. He enjoys traveling, music, sports and reading esoteric literature. His unfulfilled wishes were to be an airline pilot and a politician, a rhythm and blues singer and a cardinal in the Roman Catholic Church.

Brother Foly made his initial contacts with Freemasonry while he was at college in Paris, France. His interest in Masonry came from first observing his father who was a very dedicated religious person and who studied spirituality extensively. Brother Foly was raised to the sublime Degree of Master Mason in February 1986 in Allied Lodge No.1170 in the Grand Lodge A.F.&A.M. of the State of New York. After relocating to the Washington area in 1989, he affiliated with East Gate Lodge No. 34, Benjamin B. French Lodge No.15, La France Lodge No.93 and Hiram Takoma Lodge No. 10. Brother Foly served as Worshipful Master of East Gate Lodge No. 34 in 2002 and 2003. He is currently the Secretary of that Lodge and Junior Grand Deacon of the Grand Lodge F.A.A.M. of Washington DC. In addition to joining Scottish Rite in 1998, Brother Foly is a Royal Arch Mason, a Cryptic Mason and a Knight Templar. In 2006, he served as Grand High Priest of Royal Arch Masons of the District of Columbia and became a 33° in 2007.

Mithras Lodge of Perfection confers degrees 4º to 14º.
